About Yoga
Yoga is an activity that increases your flexibility, strengthens your muscles, and centers your thoughts. Hatha yoga is viewed as a most familiar branch of yoga in the West. This branch of Yoga uses physical poses, breath, and meditation to achieve better health, as well as spirituality. Yoga is a popular activity for athletes, children, and seniors. Sessions can range anywhere from being an extremely challenging workout for the body, mind and breath to something very rejuvenating like a nap. Classes are modified to suit all levels of fitness for the participant. One of the most integral aspects to remember with yoga is to be patient, it is not a quick fix. It takes dedication and mindfulness to discover how we inhabit our body. Yoga has been proven to lower blood pressure, optimize physique and plasticity. Most people leave a yoga class feeling energized in the body while relaxed and calm in the mind.

Why Yoga
Yoga is an ancient physical and spiritual discipline and branch of philosophy that originated in India reportedly more than 5,000 years ago. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yuj, which means to yoke, join, or unite. The Iyengar school (one Hatha style) of yoga defines yuj as the “joining or integrating of all aspects of the individual—body with mind and mind with soul—to achieve a happy, balanced and useful life.” The ultimate aim of yoga, we claim: is to reach kaivalya(emancipation / ultimate freedom / bliss).
